2013 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 3,700 times in 2013. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 3 trips to carry that many people.

What’s really fascinating about this is that I posted nothing on my blog in 2013. If you’ve been around the blogosphere for long you’ll probably have heard that “content is king”. The fact that my blog has had no new content in almost a year and still maintained a steady stream of visitors is proof of this.

So what was bringing in all this traffic? Turns out it was the set of tutorials I wrote about Joomla, a website platform much like WordPress. These tutorials where rich with natural keywords related to questions that many readers had, and their Google search queries lead them to my posts. The strong amount of keywords naturally included kept my pages high in the Google ranks, equalling more traffic.

So that’s my testimony! Despite my absence, my blog’s traffic climbed to over 10,000 views. Now that I’m back I’m hoping to take it even further.

Moral of the story: SEO works!

Creativity 2014, Day 2!

That Feeling of Control.
That Feeling of Control.

Jan. 2, 2014

Do you ever have those moments when you feel like the world is at your fingertips?  Like when you know exactly what you want to do, and exactly how to do it, and then you actually do it?  That’s how I feel when I start working on a project.  Now of course, whether or not I actually know what to do or how to do it 100% of the time is a different thing altogether, but that’s the general idea!

What do you all think?

Introducing: The Creativity 365 Challenge, 2014 Edition!

My goal for every day of this year is to create or finish something creative.  Be it a sketch, a painting, an illustration, a video, or a website, or be it a poem, a fan fiction, a blog post, or a novel, I will make something new and creative every day this year!  Much if this will end up here for you all to enjoy, alongside any helpful tutorials or whatnot I manage to whip up in my revival!

– Hello Again, My Readers! — Change Is In The Air!

Fireworks-2014

It has been far too long since I’ve been here.  Long enough that some of you may have forgotten about me, although I hope this is not the case.  The good news is, I’m back!  The blog is calling my name once again, but many things have shifted and changed since my last post.  Going forward, this blog will have a somewhat different feel to it, so please bear with me!  It’s all good, I promise!

There’s an important matter of business to deal with first.  I am going to be re-naming this blog from “Technically Heroic” to “Shadowfall Blazer”.  Within the next few days, I’ll be making some drastic changes, such as modifying the URL.  Just a head’s up that this may cause difficulties with your links and bookmarks, so I’m going to tell you straight up that the content that’s been here for the past couple years will remain on this site, and will remain searchable if necessary.

If you’re actually reading this, THANK YOU!  I look forward to rejoining this community from which I’ve been absent, with a renewed vigor greater than that which I began with.  Here’s to a fantastic year, and a happy 2014 to you all!

See you soon!
